Self Care or Self sacrifice? You choose.

If the notion of self care is new to you then I want you to carefully consider making it your new normal and here’s why.
This morning I woke up and instantly felt overwhelmed by the day ahead.
A Combination of: My daunting to do list and everything that I needed to be for everyone else and myself, it all just looked too much for me to face.
The day had not even started and it already looked insurmountable and too challenging.
I am sure you can relate to this.
So, what did I do? I took a deep breath, calmed myself down, had a shower and decided to take a couple of hours off, to invest sometime in me. Everything else could wait!
I know that sounds counter intuitive but, I knew, from what I have learnt that when I (or you or anyone), feels that overwhelmed at the beginning of the day, there is no point just diving straight in. I knew I was not going to achieve anything until I took some time out for me.
I went and did what a large number of the female population would do, I went out for a coffee, had my nails done and bought sushi for lunch!
Very, very simple, I am not high maintenance! ( My husand might disagree)
While I was out I was able to collect my thoughts, order my day and after a couple of hours go back home totally refreshed and revived and as a result will get as much, if not more done, in 5/6 hours this afternoon than I would have done if I had not taken the time out for myself.
The fact is, you cannot be the best version of you, doing your best work, helping and serving others when you yourself feel totally depleted.
Self sacrifice; when you just keep going and going is no good for anyone, not you or those around you who need the best of you!
It took me a long time to learn this lesson so please. take note! More importantly, take time out!
